Vitamin C - The Wonder Vitamin

December 11, 2017

By now, everyone knows that Vitamin C can do wonders for our health. In fact, numerous studies have already shown its healthful benefits, including boosting the immune system, lowering hypertension and so much more.  In fact it won’t be surprising if new benefits might crop up in medical journals in the future.  However, although much is known about it, there’s also still a lot more to vitamin C than we realize.  Here are a few surprising facts about it:

IT’S EVERYWHERE.

Yes, vitamin C can in fact be sourced from quite a number of foodstuffs including citrus fruits (oranges and lemons, anyone?), strawberries, raspberries, cabbages, cauliflowers and other leafy vegetables.  Other surprising sources include red peppers, potatoes, broccoli, chilies, watercress, parsley, brussels sprouts, cantaloupes, mangoes and kiwi fruit.  Indeed, although we associate sourness with the vitamin, some of its more potent sources are not sour at all. Likewise, vitamin C supplements are likewise readily available in various dosages and price ranges.

IT’S GOOD FOR CERTAIN EYE DISORDERS.

True to its user-and wallet-friendly image, vitamin C also helps one of the most common visual disorders—cataracts.  Studies have shown that vitamin C levels dip significantly in the lens of the human eye for cataract sufferers.  Taking vitamin C alleviates the condition by increasing blood supply to the ocular areas.

IMPROVES MOOD DISORDERS.

Studies have yet to fully make a connection, but vitamin C seems to play a key role in the production of neurotransmitters.  This affects the mood of a person and also plays a critical role in the functioning of the brain.  Hence, next time that you may feel anxious, depressed or what not, make sure to take some vitamin C.  On a side note, improving one’s mood is ideal for those who may feel depressed after being diagnosed with a serious medical condition.

GOOD FOR DIABETES.

Curiously, one of the reasons why people develop diabetes is due to low levels of vitamin C.  As such, increasing the intake of the vitamin is essential for managing the condition.  Indeed, vitamin C is helpful in processing insulin and glucose in the body of diabetics.  Also, it helps that vitamin C provides extra energy for people stricken by diabetes who feel lethargic and depressed due to the condition.

COMBATS LEAD TOXICITY.

This is considered a severe health problem as possible sources of lead  are varied.  Indeed, lead can come from the water we drink, the food we eat (through the absorption of lead in the soil), and even the air we breathe (air particulate matter).  Considering that most people just can’t retire to the countryside where fresh air, food and water can be found; wouldn’t it be wiser if we combat lead toxicity with vitamin C instead?  Taking vitamin C regularly can prevent abnormal growth, learning disabilities and low IQ for those exposed to lead.  Not surprisingly, vitamin C can significantly reduce blood lead levels.

Vitamin C should therefore be taken for any of the above conditions as the human body is incapable of producing its own vitamin C.  Hence, the need to take  the vitamin either through food or through the more convenient supplements.

One such vitamin C supplement is Cosmo Cee.  Cosmo Cee is prepared under strict quality standards and in the correct dosage. Moreover it has bioflavonoids which can help prolong the healthful benefits of vitamin C.  It is also convenient, as even if vitamin rich foods are abundant, one may not have the time or opportunity to consume them and absorb their vitamin C in time.
